July 23rd, 2016 Barbara Bergin, MD is an orthopedic surgeon from Austin, Texas. (I was delighted to learn that she often listens to Healthy by Nature. That shows how open and forward thinking she is!) Dr. Bergin's blog and website offer a lot of great information about avoiding the need for an orthopedic surgeon! We talked about examples like her advice to not "put your pants on one leg at a time" and an initiative to encourage women to "Sit Like A Man". Then John James, PhD joined us. He might be our first NASA scientist guest and is certainly our first NASA toxicologist. His book is A Sea of Broken Hearts: Patient Rights in a Dangerous, Profit-Driven Health Care System. He also is the founder of Patient Safety America dedicated to reducing medical errors which by the most conservative estimates are in the top 3 causes of premature death.
